Hospice and Palliative Care Protocol and Objective

Avoiding the stigma of palliative care and hospice.

Hospice defines hope and helps patients and their families reclaim the spirit of life. Hospice focuses on the time you have now and provides quality of that time.

Assessment of patient by a VMD/DVM to determine status both qualifying under hospice or palliative care.

Objective being to improve quality of life and provide services that are not only limited to comfort care but also to provide quality of life in conjunction with curative treatments.

Educating clients and giving them the tools to work with the nurse/tech or doctor at home.

Serial Assessments

Transitioning from palliative care to hospice when palliative care is no longer an option.

Managing family conflicts

• Preparing for euthanasia (in home)
